Joint President (and Alternate Secretary) - Elizabeth Brackin
I am an Australian of Greek heritage, in my sixth year in Japan. I have one child, a daughter, in Year 1 who has attended since Nursery. The annual Bazaar has always been a highlight for me and I’ve been attending since my first year in Kobe. With a career principally in administration across various industries I enjoy planning and organising – useful tools for a PTA president! In my spare time I enjoy writing (one day I’ll finish the book) and seeing the world through the eyes of my daughter.

Administration Representative – Mrs Irvin-Hunter (Year 6 Class Teacher)
I have been at St. Michael’s for twelve incredible years as both a parent and teacher. I have taught at various levels throughout the school and cannot think of a place I’d rather be working. When I’m not at school I enjoy travelling with my family, I love devouring mystery novels and can be found reading everywhere I go.
Administration Representative – Mrs Makino (Japanese Language Teacher and ELS Deputy Head)
I started teaching here as the Primary One class teacher where I had 26 children from many parts of the world, including one from Sudan. Currently I am teaching English in the English Language section and Japanese to the International School children. I love teaching, being part of St. Michael’s and welcoming back our old students some of whom are now mothers and fathers.
Administration Representative – Mr Grisewood (Head of School)
I commenced as Head of School at St Michael’s in August 2009. I have been a teacher and administrator in the Australian Independent Education system for the past eighteen years, and have a strong interest in curriculum, middle schooling, pastoral care and pursuing best practice in schools and effective leadership.

I have been teaching at St Michael’s for 3 years. I love playing most sports, especially volleyball, squash and of course rugby. I really enjoy living in Japan, especially Kobe as the mountains and harbour reminds me of home.
