Extra-Curricular Activities
The extra-curricular programme varies each term but Football and Computer are regular components. Other activities such as Art and Craft, Tai Chi, Recorders, Boy's/Girls Club, Music Club, Choir, Reading Club and Guitar are also regulars.
Special Events
A number of special events and activities take place, including the St. Michael's Day service early in the school year, Sports Day in October, Good Neighbour Week in February, Founders' Day service/Open Day in March and the annual Bazaar at the end of April. The Good Neighbour Week focuses on needy causes, both in Japan and overseas, and the students learn much about less fortunate communities, world problems and ethical matters as a result. The students also take part in inter-school concerts and contests.
Student Graduates & Leavers
Students normally leave St. Michael's at the age of eleven after completing Year Six (Grade Five). A few of them go overseas to private or state schools in Britain, North America, Australia or New Zealand for their secondary education but the majority enter local International Schools. St. Michael's monitors the progress of its graduates and regularly receives good academic reports. The firm foundation provided for the students, the attractive teacher/student ratio of the school, enhanced by the additional part-time teachers, combines with the school's high disciplinary standards to produce students of commendable academic and personal calibre. Many achieve academic distinctions at high school and subsequently enter prestigious universities in Japan, Europe and North America. After graduating, students join an active Alumni Association to help them keep abreast of school developments. Many former students, now successful in business and in various professions around the world, readily acknowledge their debt to St. Michael's for the firm foundation the school gave them and are highly supportive members of the Alumni Association as a result.
Cultural Visits to the School
Numerous visitors are welcomed throughout the year; including both international and local groups and individuals who furnish the students with a range of cultural insights. The students participate in regular exchanges with two Japanese Primary Schools; Kobe Primary School and Kumobe Primary School in Sasayama in Hyogo Prefecture as well as attending 'Orientation Days' at local International High Schools.
